Friends of St. Levan

“The Friends of St Levan is a charity that exists to support the ministry of the Church, both by financial donations and regular prayer. For as little as £10 a year, Friends receive a bi-annual newsletter, containing news from the previous six months and information about forthcoming events. An AGM and special evening service are normally held on the Feast of St. Levan but in 2020 these have been deferred until spring 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic – details are included in the latest newsletter

In the last 12 years, the Friends have raised more than £17,000 and have supported the purchase of brown tourism signs for the church, a new microphone system and hearing aid loop, a replacement chancel carpet and a portable ramp for disabled access. We have contributed to a set of new hymn books, to the construction of an outside toilet, a new organ, repairs to the ceilings of the aisles and the publication of the History of St. Levan by Susan Hoyle. We have contributed £1,500 towards a new heating system for the church and £4,750 for a new lighting system.

Why join the Friends?

Since the arrival of St. Levan in the sixth century, the area has been a constant witness of the Christian faith to locals and visitors, merchants and pilgrims alike. Since 2001, we have upheld this tradition of prayer and spiritual support between those living in and beyond the confines of the parish, and we encourage you to join the Friends to continue this practice. Financial donations will also ensure that the Church is kept alive and standing for future generations to enjoy.

St Levan Prayer

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the witness of St Levan, for his holy silences and faithful prayers at the edge of the world. Be with those whose lives are buffeted by the winds and changes in our beautiful world, and draw them into silent peace and contemplation of your holy words, in Jesus name, Amen
